Born Ronald Edward Simurdiak on September 10, 1949, in Phillips, Wisconsin.

Bought first pulp truck in 1969 and hauled pulpwood - and agriculture limestone for farmers - until 1980.
Spent next eight years in the Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order, where he began playing guitar, writing songs, and performing, graduating from St. Louis University in 1985.
Spent parts of three summers in Nashville, TN, working in a halfway house and doing prison work, performing some with the late Anne Romaine, local Nashville singer/activist and recording artist.
Worked as a high school teacher for three years on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota (1985-88), singing and playing at various places, and occasionally on KILI, the reservation radio station near Porcupine, SD.
Returned to Phillips in 1988, buying a skidder and chain saws and starting an independent logging business, which he still runs today.
Co-performed one of his own songs, "Eagle Flight", with Debbie Iron Cloud, to open a benefit concert at the Civic Center in Rapid City, SD. Other performers included John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, and Willie Nelson. (1989)
Recorded first album entitled "Never Leave Wisconsin Again" in 1995, which included all self composed songs.
