Just finished putting a new page up about the new museum in Nashville.
Went there earlier this month while in town for Scotty's party. It's still in its infancy
and has a long way to go but Joe Chamber has done a fantastic job putting it together and
it pays tribute to a lot of the guys and studios that you don't often hear about.
It's also about time someone started talking up American Sound.
Check it out:

hi, i listen to WGNA every day at work and they play 2 songs quite often but
i've never been able to catch the artist or title of the songs.
the first one goes something like "she's got her daddy's money, and her momma's good looks".
for the 2nd one, the words i know are "i wanna be like you, i'm your buckaroo";
i can tell you it's a father & son (the kid's about 4 or 5) and the father hears the
kid say s***; they don't use the word in the song; but the father makes
it obvious that that's what the kid said; and this is where the kid says the line.
i went to the WGNA site, but couldn't find a list of top songs played; it must be popular,
tho, as i hear them more than once a day during the day at work; and none of the links
(like "contact us") seemed to work, to email the station.
any help w/this would be great, it's driving me crazy!! dj - snoopy585@aol.com

We are doing the song "Who Do You Think?" by Harold Reed of the Statler Brothers.
The version we know is by the Primitive Quartet. My question is the chord pattern
for guitar. We do it in 2 sharps (D) but someone told us we are leaving out some chords.
This is very possible as we do not read music. We are playing for some shut-ins.
Would like to know the correct chord pattern. Thanks and have a blessed Christmas.

Hello! Country Music history fans. Recently. I acquired a vintage Texas Jim Robertson country
music concert poster. He put on this concert at the Hornell Armory in the 1940's.
Also, I recently discovered that he was a Broadway New York performer in 1951 at the
Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Moreover, he played the character of Clovis Garrett in
the production of: Out West of Eighth. Texas Jim Robertson was a great singer
of religious songs and his record album of Sacred Country and Western Songs attests
of his ability in this genre'.There should be a member of the Nashville Country
music Hall of Fame that remembers the fantastic contributions that Texas Jim Robertson
made, and be willing to sponsor him as an inductee to this prestigious organization. Sincerely,
Dan Rightmer -Country Music historian. rightmerd@gotsky.com

I've been hearing a lot lately that people miss the "old country" or traditional country.
I'm sorry but did it die? Was there a funeral?
We have been trained that if it isn't on the radio, it isn't country. Hogwash!
Are you not tired of some fat cat telling you what to listen to,
what concerts to go to and who's Cd's to buy???
We are everywhere. XM radio plays a lot of our music.
And you can go to sites like mine and others.

It's just been forgotten.

Sally - Since I love research, I took this as a challenge, but after a few hours, I hit a little bit of
a brick wall. Although I'm a Mississippi gal, my parents were both from eastern Ohio.
They visited Wheeling and the Jamboree quite often during the 70's. There is a website for
the Jamboree and Capitol Music Hall. There is also a "contact us" button available.
Perhaps they could answer your questions if no one else has the information you seek.

I have enjoyed looking at your sight. I am a collector of old ephemera and I was hoping you could
help me verify a piece of information.
I have an Official Jamboree History Picture Book from 1975, from the Capitol Music Hall
in Wheeling WV. It has an autograph page in the back that has two autographs on it.
One is Pitaful Pearl, and the other says To one of my fans! Liz Taylor. I was wondering
if this was Elizabeth Taylors autograph or another proformer that played there in the
70's. Did Elizabeth Taylor ever visit or play there at the Capitol City Music Hall
in the 70's? If so is there any way I could get a copy of a review or something
to show she was there? Thank You, Sally Penland - bobsal4@roadrunner.com

Hi I need to know if any one has any info. on research done for "Tracy Byrd." My brother got a
letter from someone doing resesrch for Tracy Byrd, they said in doing so they found out Tracy's
grandfather (I think) had another family in Oklahoma. My brother lost that letter, we are the
family they are refering to. John Beverly Byrd, (sometimes spelled Bird) was married to Mary
Jane Lopp, they had 3 children William, Ross Columbus (my Dad) & a daughter Nancy. I have
records of him being in ARK. IN 1880 & One child (William) was on the census with him & Mary,
My Dad & Nancy were born later. John Beverly brought his family here (Okla.) but then called
Indian Territory. He left them here to go find work, he was never heard from again, There was
talk he went to Texas, remarried & had another family, which I believe Tracy is from that line.
I would really appreciate any help or info. as I am 72 now & have never seen even a picture of
my Grandfather. THANKS SO MUCH Ann Byrd Avery - baa@azalea.net

Ok, not sure who sung this, I am looking for who did and all the words to it.
It's about a little boy who is playing and his mother told him to get ready for bed,
he wants to be a cowboy. It starts out, (The skys, are dark and gray, for a week now it's
been raining everyday, and he hear the coyote call, and he sings the sun to rest as
he would pause,) not sure about the words in between.something about (he is trying to tame the
west but mom don't seem to understand, for she's told him to get ready, it's more than time
for, now he wishes he was free, he was simply born to be a cowboy). I thought Eddie Arnold
sung this, but not sure, and don't know the name either. long time search.

For sale: Extremely Rare 16MM Film with Ernest Tubb, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and June Carter. Circa 1961.
The Film:
Your National Guard Presents Community Jamboree
featuring Ernest Tubb, Hawkshaw Hawkins, June Carter and the Stoney Mountain Cloggers.
Ernest Tubb sings one song, Hawkshaw Hawkins sings 2 songs, and June Carter performs
in a comedy skit with Ernest & Hawkshaw.
Ernest Tubb, Died 1984.
Hawkshaw Hawkins, Died 1963 in a plane crash with Patsy Cline.
June Carter, Died 2003, Married Johnny Cash 1968.
This is an extremely rare piece of country western memorabilia. After years of research
I have come to the conclusion this is the only surviving copy. It is a 16MM film, made for TV.
Approximate running time is 30 minutes. This film is in very good condition.
The film is complete from start to finish with no splices. I have only viewed the film 2 times
in the last 20 years. I have done extensive research on this film over the years and have not
located another copy anywhere. All I have been able to determine is that it is very rare,
so rare in fact that this may be the only copy that survived time. I am selling this film
to the highest bidder. Please make an offer if you are interested. The film is not copyrighted
and it is in public domain. There are several companies that sell DVD copies of similar
films. This film could be very valuable to collectors or someone interested in selling copies.

I'm looking for videos produced by Albert Gannaway that combined his 50's library of Grand Ole Opry
performances and videos from the Willie Nelson videos of classic country shows of the 60's and 70's.
It was called Timeless Treasures and was a 12 tape set. The original films were shot in the mid 50's
when the Grand Ole Opry was only being performed on the radio. The first couple of shows were shot
at the Ryman but Albert wasn't happy with the sound or the physical layout for filming so he
built a quansit hut across the street and when the performers had finished the radio show
they would go across the street to recreate the same show that had just been performed on
the stage at the Old Ryman. Albert was a film producer and director so he shot the shows on
35mm film and was the first to use a multi camera set up with flying cameras. The films were
first shown as serial films in theaters and then later were syndicated for use on TV. Albert
not only directed and produced the films but he also wrote the theme song. Willie Nelson bought
up all the country shows that were shot on video in the 60's and 70's the ones you used to
see on Saturday afternoons etc. The Timeless Treasures wed the two and you can see the
same performer singing the same songs through 2 or 3 decades. If you have any or all of
these tapes I would be interested in purchasing them. Dan Cain - dcain1@cfl.rr.com

I was blown away tonight to see a little girl belt her heart out singing "I want to be a
cowboys sweetheart" on the T.V. show. Everyone Has Talent. Patsy Montana contributed so much
to country music, and indeed even more to american folk music. She fought for the right
for women to headline a show, not just sing in the background, and this little girl
did her justice. Her name is Taylor, I don't know the last name, but I hope anyone who
loves country music as an art form bothers to find out who she is and votes for her to win
the million dollars. She deserves it just for bringing a lost classic back
from the archives and showing the public not everyone aspires to be Britney Spears.

hello there, hunting for the name of this song and the singer, the lyrics.
To night i'm a tired weary cowboy i've been in the saddel allday out
searching the hills and the vallies for cattle that strayed a way.
Old paint is tired and leg weary his freet are all broken and sore and
some day our work will be over and we'll ride on that other shore.
There is more verses this should be enough to to help.
I thought that this maybe Wilf carters song, called cowboys heaven or
old paint ... maybe Gene Autry sang it ... any help will be highly appreciated
