About Teri ...Born in Clifton, Texas, Teri lived in Fort Worth until She was one and a half. Then her family moved to Mansfield. Her earliest memories were of herself and her brothers and sister singing around the house with her mother. At age two, when the others were rehearsing the songs they would perform at that night's Gospel Sing. Teri's mother felt a hand on her elbow and looked down to see Teri looking up at her, saying "Mommy, I can sing too." From that day on Teri performed with the rest of the family.
She sang lead at age two, and added back-up vocals at age four. The family, known as "The Singing Browns" would travel from Church to Church, singing gospel while her father preached. Teri was raised in a strict Christian home (United Pentacostal) where her father and the Church did not allow Country music. Teri's mother loved the old songs, and she would still sing them so Teri was given a taste of the classics from her mother. She heards Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Jim Reeves tunes, but her favorites were the Tammy Wynette songs. She grew up hearing her mother sing "I Don't Wanna Play House", "Stand By Your Man," and "D_I_V_O_R_C_E," among others.
At five the family relocated to Waukesha, Wisconsin where they continued to sing as her father preached. Teri, at that time, showed interest in musical instruments. She started out with the fiddle, and went on to add the flute and keyboards. At age ten her parents separated and she and her mother and siblings moved back to Texas where they continued to sing in church.
At twelve the move was made back to Ft. Worth where Teri performed with the school choir. She began singing for large audiences at the Church State Camp. It was there she sang before crowds of over 14,000.at each performance.
In 1995 Teri realized that she wanted to sing country. As a child she had hid a small portable radio under her pillow at bed time, so that she could secretly listen to the music she had started to love. Teri looked for every opportunity she could find to gain experience in the Country Music Scene. At a local Honky Tonk, while listening to a local band she was asked to get up and sing. After performing "Texas When I Die" and "Stand By Your Man," she was invited to sit in for the rest of the evening. By the end of the night she had become a member of the band, Blue Canyon. She remained with them till the band split up in 1998 .She appeared with them at Spring and Fall Festivals in Glen Rose, Texas, plus playing in Honky Tonks in the Dallas-Ft Worth area. She then joined "Road Block" where she sang and played keyboard.
It was at this time that it was suggested to her that she audition for The Johnnie High Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas. This radio show has been the launching pad for such artists as LeAnn Rimes, LeAnn Womack, John Anderson and others. She did, and immediately received a letter inviting her to sing on his show. She also was invited to perform at his annual, twice a year shows at the Ampitheater in Glen Rose, Texas. During the past three years she has done many performances for Johnnie High. Teri was also one of 13 chosen for advanced classes at Jayne Lybrands The Image Factory out of 1000 applicants. She has been a student of stage presence, artist developement and vocal coaching there. Her vocal coach is Gospel Hall of Famer Jim Wesson.
Teri has also performed at The Grapevine Opry and Country Love Theater Opry in Granbury, Texas. In October of 2000 she came to Burns, TN to record her first CD.
